About the Festival Director

Daniel Smales, founder of the Glowflare Short Film Festival, is a passionate filmmaker and actor from Hull, East Yorkshire. With a background in musical theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Daniel’s creative journey expanded into acting and filmmaking, where he gained hands-on experience both behind and in front of the camera.

His involvement in notable film festivals such as the Romford Horror Festival and East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival highlights his dedication to supporting independent filmmakers and promoting diverse storytelling. Daniel’s acting credits include roles in the zero-budget horror "Death Walks" and the psychological thriller "No Reasons," showcasing his versatility and commitment to innovative projects.

Daniel’s vision for the Glowflare Short Film Festival is to create an inclusive platform that celebrates creativity and fosters connections among filmmakers and audiences.

About Parkway Cinema Beverley

Parkway Cinema Beverley, part of the independent Parkway Cinemas chain, has been a cultural hub in East Riding of Yorkshire since its opening in 2015. Located in the Flemingate Shopping Centre, it features six screens, Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound, and 4K projection, showcasing everything from blockbusters to daring independent films.
